I caught up via Zoom with the author of 10 Warning Signs: Is Your Date A Deadbeat or Deadly? a book by Eric Legette who encourages women to watch for the warning signs of men who may walk away after pregnancy occurs. According to WomensLaw.org, anyone can be a victim of domestic violence or dating violence. Statistics show that 1 in 4 women (24.3%) and 1 in 7 men (13.8%) aged 18 and older in the United States have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Further, females ages 18 to 24 and 25 to 34 experienced the highest rates of domestic violence. Nearly half of all women and men in the United States have experienced psychological aggression by an intimate partner in their lifetime (48.4% and 48.8%, respectively).
Leggete discussed being inspired to write the book by noticing a number of headlines of men who murdered women because they were angry about paying child support. In the book Legette points out some of the signs women can watch out for when dating. Check out the full interview.
