Author/ African historian Emmanuel Kulu, Jr. faced racism for depicting Egypt as a black civilization in his novel, “I, Black Pharaoh: Rise to Power”. When discussing why the concept of Egypt being a predominantly black civilization is so contentious, the author has a sobering response.
“In order to control the people, you have to strip them from their heritage. Adolph Hitler said if you tell a lie long enough it becomes the truth and that was one of the tactics that was used by some of these scholars that started in Ancient Egypt”.
Despite those obstacles Kulu has authored an incredible book that is historically accurate and has commercial appeal. Check out the full interview with Kulu where he discusses the inspiration behind his novel “I, Black Pharoah Rise to Power”.
