The Hypocrisy of Destroying Negative Historical Stereotypes but Promoting Whoredom and Thuggery in Popular Culture

Since public pressure has been put on Quaker Oats to get rid of Aunt Jemima. Is it possible for viewers to put some pressure on companies such as Viacom to get rid of shows on VH1 such as Love & Hip Hop which promote ratchet behavior such as fighting and infidelity?

While the past stereotype of Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben is considered offensive too many. Shouldn’t the present behavior of figures that regularly promote whoredom such as Cardi B and Nicki Minaj be considered equally, if not more problematic for our community. What about the thuggery pervasive through so much of hip-hop culture. How can we be so offended by the stereotypical images of Uncle Ben but applaud the current so called stars of our culture simultaneously?

We must confront the underlying issue. The historical stereotypes aren’t the problem for the black community. The community’s need of validating and promoting “bullshit” is the largest stumbling block. Tackling this problem starts with cancelling these obsolete figures that have nothing to offer to the liberation of our community.
