Find Your Perfect Nipple Nude

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the perfect time to find your perfect nipple nude lip color!

Written by Shannon MacDevine

Finding your perfect nude lip shade may be as easy as taking a peek at the girls!

If you need another reason to do self breast examines, besides the fact that it could save your life, checking your girls can also help you find your perfect nude lipstick shade.

Though it may sound like a makeup urban myth, the color of your nipples is supposed to give you the “my lips but better” look if you can find your color in a lipstick.

Though many beauty artists may be skeptical, many women not only believe it to be true, but are rocking their perfect shade! I spoke with one of these amazing women myself. Not only does she swear by this lip to nipple trick, but she uses it as a way to promote self breast examines.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October has long been the month when the world promotes breast cancer awareness. Seen a lot of pink lately? What about little pink ribbons? Those little pink ribbons are the universal symbol for breast cancer awareness and support.

Did you know the pink ribbon was originally peach? It was created by a women named Charlotte Haley. She made them at her kitchen table and had people wear them in hopes of getting legislators to increase funding for breast cancer research.

The ribbons caught on. Once Estee Lauder and the Susan G. Komen Foundation got involved, they turned the ribbons from peach to pink, and the rest is history.

Now the ribbons are a way to promote research, encourage mammograms, raise funds, and support those who are fighting against breast cancer.

Know Your Nipple Color

Linda Gilbert is a firm believer in the perfect “nipple nude” lipstick color. After battling and beating her own fight against breast cancer, she encourages others to know their perfect nipple nude color, as well.

I spoke with Linda about her nipple nude color crusade.

Question – “How did you first figure out your perfect nipple nude?”

Answer – “When I was first diagnosed, I remember noticing a change in my nipple color. I was so shocked and scared, I think I was in shock. All I could think about was whether my nipple color would turn back. Strange, right? I was numb, and I think that thought kept me from panicking .”

“A year or so later, I was in remission. I was out shopping with my friend, and I found this amazing lipstick that was perfect for me. The crazy part is, because I spent so much time thinking about my nipple color the first few days after I found out, I knew exactly why the color was perfect. It was my nipple color. I started crying right there in Walgreens. ”

Q- “Wow, that’s amazing! So now you tell others to find their perfect nipple color too?”

A- “Absolutely! Not only does it look amazing, but it makes you more in tune with your breasts. Nipple color change is a definite sign that you need to see your doc pronto. ”

“I was lucky, and they caught it early, but I’m always doing self examines. I know my girls a lot better now then I did before. Plus, my lipstick always looks amazing. ”

Q- Yes, it does! What advise do you have for finding the perfect nipple color? ”

A- “Laughs Well you can’t exactly compare at the store! You can take a picture though! No I’m kidding, or I guess that might work. ”

“My advise is to swatch test. Put a few colors on your hand or arm that seem close so you can check when you get home. I also use a lip liner in a shade a little darker for dimension. Hey maybe some day they’ll make nipple liners!? ”

Q- “Imagine! So, for the last question, what is the main message behind your nipple nude crusade? What advise would you give other women?”

A- “To do your self breast examines and get your mammograms done! Men too, they’re not immune. If you see any difference in your nipples or breasts like lumps, dimpling, hot spots, change in color, size, shape whatever- do yourself a favor and see your doctor. It could save your life like it saved mine! ”

October 18th Is National Mammogram Day

On October 18th it will be National Mammography Day. Medical experts believe that early detection increases your risk of beating breast cancer, which is why mammograms are so important. The earlier it is caught, the better chances you have.

Mammograms are recommended annually for all women starting between the ages of 45 to 50. You may need to start getting screened earlier, however, if there is a history of breast cancer in your family.

October 18th is also a day to raise funds for further research, and provide aid for those who do not have access to screenings. Mammograms are able to detect things that are not visible, and can not be felt, which makes them imperative for early detection.

This October, get to know your breasts, and find your perfect nipple nude! Though you may be too young to start getting annual mammograms, you are not too young for self examines.

For all those battling cancer, and all those that have lost someone to the disease, we stand together!

Don’t forget to wear your pink!
