Tuesday Teaser

OK, so had a pretty good kickoff to conference tourney play last night going 6-4. Missed 7-3 by a bucket on the 1st Half Under in the K-State game, UGH. Anywhoooo..it’s time to move on to tonight where three conferences kickoff their tournaments.  I got a lot to get to and not much time so I’ll dispense with the pleasantries and get right to it.

The Big South, Horizon & Patriot leagues tip off their tourneys tonight. Not a lot of household names in the mix. Probably a lot of schools you hear when someone says, “one of my cousins went there”. The only name anyone will know from any of these three leagues is super scorer Chris Clemons from Campbell, he’s leading all D1 in scoring. He’s kind of a big deal. Now let’s see how our cousin’s school will do tonight!

The Big South has three games going. First up is Longwood & Hampton. I know, totally sounds like two country clubs facing off in a polo match (which I would totally check out) but these are the teams playing. The Longwood Lancers, yes I said Lancers, you hear me right. Lancer as in a soldier in an old cavalry, like Robin Hood times I think. Anyway, Longwood’s lost three in a row and is one of the worst teams in the conference. Hampton’s won four in a row including a blowout of Longwood at home where tonight’s action takes place. The spread’s 10.5 and Longwood recently played conference power Campbell pretty tight so ehhhhh, let’s rock the OVER 149.5!

Charleston Southern takes on the worst Big South team, the South Carolina Upstate Spartans. SCU, or as its also called USC, boasts a reputable Biology Department as well as a 1-15 conference record and 6-25 overall. Charleston Southern is one of 4 Big South teams with 9-7 conference records who logjam 3rd place. The Bucs beat top seed Radford recently as well as losing to 2nd place Winthrop in double OT. I don’t totally hate CSU -15, but hate the Over 143 much less.

And quickly, another 9-7 team, Presbyterian takes on 4-26 UNC Asheville. Definitely a down year for the Bulldogs. Neither team is all that good and UNCA struggles to score so let’s do the UNDER 135.5 here.

Horizon

Chardonnay and Grill LOVE Green Bay -3 versus U Illinois-Chicago. The other Horizon League game is IUPUI as the 7.5 point ROAD DAWG vs Wright State. Wright State’s the number 2 seed and just a few wins away from the Big Dance. IUPUI COVERS in UNDER 137 territory!

Last but not least, the Patriot League also begins its conference tournament tonight with heavy Bay State flavor as both Holy Cross and Boston University try to advance past the first round. Holy Cross finished last in conference play so they get to face the 2nd worst Patriot league team, the Lafayette Leopards. Man I love the team names of these small conference teams. The LEOPARDS!!! Although Holy Cross had the worst conference record, Lafayette had the worst overall record and for that reason we’re rolling with HC +1. Sorry Leopards. I feel bad. I love leopards. Here, let’s help to save them…Save Snow Leopard

Finally, Chardonnay has a soft spot for our hometown of Boston as he not only likes Holy Cross but also BU -4.5 over equally middle-of-the-road Loyola-Maryland. Chill the glasses, its gonna be a hot night of action!

To Review…

OVER 149.5 in Longwood/Hampton Country Club Classic

BU -4.5

Don’t forget to help save leopards and enjoy all the SCORCHING HOT ACTION!!!
