Now that the days for President’s, Valentine’s, Groundhog, National Pet, National Pizza & National Weatherpersons are behind us along with the Grammy’s, the Oscars, the Super Bowl and everything else February brings, its time to plunge on bravely into the the most exciting month of the year. MARCH.
Whether on the court, the ice, the bargaining table or in the atmosphere, the madness brought on by the month of March is enough to make you head spin ten times over. Surely the marquee event of the months is the Big Dance. The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, but the action before we even get there will surely be insanely scorching hot. Conference tournaments start MONDAY with the opening tip of the Atlantic Sun Tournament and the first ticket gets punched next Saturday when the Ohio Valley crowns the first champions of the month. Anything and everything will happen over the next few weeks. And if the college game wasn’t enough the pros jockey for playoff position and in some cases for draft lottery position as the NBA regular season winds down. Ditto for the NHL. Feeling futures? Then get a good one in before the MLB kicks off at the end of the month. And of course its never out of season to talk football. With the draft coming up next month and the combine well underway, throw in the official start of free agency and its time to get those early NFL futures in as well as some draft prop bets. Throw all that stuff in with wild weather, the emergence of spring and the human spirit dying to cut loose & party and you can see why they call it March Madness!!!
Let’s get this party started!
I’ll turn out another article later in the day for the Saturday night action but plenty of daytime action. Let’s have a look…
Tennessee tries to avenge a dominant Kentucky win over the Vols from a few weeks back, but this time on their home court in Knoxville. Kentucky’s been rolling since a home loss against LSU having won 4 in a row including that win against the Vols, but Arkansas played them tough in Rupp arena and more than covered as a 15.5 Road Dawg. Not only did Tennessee lose to Kentuck but also to LSU so they’re certainly far from the invincible state they existed in before the Kentucky loss but you gotta love them to pull out the W at home. Vols -155 MONEYLINE!!!
#24 ranked Wofford travels to Birmingham to take on feisty Samford in sizzling Southern Conference action. Wofford’s the top dog in the conference but is a meager 3-9 vs the spread on the road and Samford always plays a tight game, win or lose. Wofford win will and keep their Top 25 status but Samford shows some pride in front of the home crowd and COVERS the +9 as the Home Dawg!!!
A bit short on time so here are some other early game picks the guys like…
Chardonnay LOVES Green Bay +2.5 vs Norther Kentucky & Georgia St -8.5 hosting U-Ark Little Rock
Grill is loving early action as he’s got the UNDER 131 in the Drake-Missouri State game, Duquesne -6 vs UMass & the OVER in Hofstra/Deleware at 144.5
