Sexy Sox get a W in Detroit City – Game 5

Comerica Park, Detroit MI – 4/9/17

Red Sox (3-2) 7  – Tigers (3-2) 5

The game as back and forth yesterday in Detroit City without really any dominating stance until later in the game. The Red Sox who already loss the the first 2 in this series were desperately looking for a win. Boston is in rough shape right now suffering from viruses, the flu and deaths in the family. The Sox have only had their opening day line up in tacked for about 1 game so far.

Porcello had a sub decent game pitching 6 innings and giving up 11 hits, 4 runs and striking out 8. It wasn’t exactly a Cy Young performance for this former Detroit Tiger, but he got through the mud and ended the day with a no decision. Barns who came in relief, settled things down for the team and then shaky Kimbrel came in for the close and gave up a run. At the end, Kimbrel did get his second save of the year.

The offensive for the Red Sox didn’t come alive until the 8th inning where they got 4 of their 7 runs causing Tigers pitcher Kyle Ryan getting his first blown save of the year. Sandy Leon doing it again and getting 2 RBI’s on the day.

The Red Sox play again Monday day 4/10/17 at 1:10 PM EST against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI. Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale will take on Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander on the final game of the series.

The save the Citco Sign petition right now is  16K and climbing. Rumor has it that the rent for the Citco sign will go up to over 2 million a year. This is tragic to any Red Sox fan who has grown to associate Fenway Park and baseball with the giant flashing red gas station brand sign at Kenmore square. I ask all fans of baseball to please go to and take a second to sign and Save The Citco Sign!
