Comerica Park, Detroit MI – 4/8/17
Red Sox (2-2) 1 – Tigers (3-1) 4
It was a quiet day in Detroit for the heavy payroll of bats of the Boston Red Sox. A grand total of 6 hits, 1 RBI and 7 strikes outs was what the Sox could brag about at the dirty filthy but fun gentlemen clubs after the game Saturday in Detroit City.
The Tiger’s starter Zimmermann pitched like a true ace. He went 6 innings, gave up 4 hits and only 1 run. On the other side of the diamond, Rodriguez struggled a little only lasting 5 innings giving up all of Detroit’s runs, including 2 home runs from Iglesias and McMann. Friday was a tale of the Red Sox bullpen eating dirt, Saturday it was a tale of starting pitching a bit outside.
Speaking of former Red Sox infielder, Jose Iglesias, in addition to his home run, he also went 2-3 with 2 hits total looking pretty damn good. Also, holy crap! Victor Martinez is still playing? It has been almost 10 years since this veteran had played on the Red Sox.
Lets hope the Red Sox can salvage a game on Sunday and have a change Monday to tie the series. If they can’t get back on the winning track, they will be going back to Boston with a losing record for the first time this year.
The Red Sox play again Sunday day 4/9/17 at 1:10 PM EST against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI. Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello will take on Tigers pitcher Daniel Noris.
The save the Citco Sign petition right now is 10K and climbing. Rumor has it that the rent for the Citco sign will go up to over 2 million a year. This is tragic to any Red Sox fan who has grown to associate Fenway Park and baseball with the giant flashing red gas station brand sign at Kenmore square. I ask all fans of baseball to please go to https://www.change.org/p/help-protect-a-boston-icon and take a second to sign and Save The Citco Sign!
