Mo town Blues – Game 3

Comerica Park, Detroit MI – 4/7/17

Red Sox (2-1) 5  – Tigers (2-1) 6

The Red Sox got Thursday off due to a rain out in Boston. Both the Pirates and the Red Sox had 1 PM games on Friday in different cities and couldn’t hang around all day for the weather to pass. The Red Sox and Pirates will make up that game on Thursday, April 13th at Fenway Park.

Because of the rain out,  Rodriguez got skipped and will be pitching on Saturday in Detroit and Steve Wright got his first start of the season Thursday.

The Tigers got off to a quick 1-0 lead in the first but Wright settled down over 6.2 innings. The Red Sox bats were cold as a winter night in downtown Detroit though. The team as a whole couldn’t get any runs on the board until the 8th inning where they put up 5 runs and took a 5-4 lead.

It was the questionable bullpen that let the Sox down though. Hembree came in and couldn’t keep the lead, giving up the final 2 runs of the game that enviably led to the tigers 6-5 victory. Hembree got the loss and Detroit took game 1 of this 4 game series.

The Red Sox are suffering from absent players due to deaths in the family and a flu like sickness going around. It is game 3 of the season so lets not go onto panic mode just yet. A plus is Sandoval is swinging, getting a home run in the loss.

The Red Sox play again Saturday day 4/8/17 at 1:10 PM EST against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI. Red Sox pitcher Eduardo  Rodriguez will take on Tigers pitcher Jordan Zimmermann.

The save the Citco Sign petition right now is  10K and climbing. Rumor has it that the rent for the Citco sign will go up to over 2 million a year. This is tragic to any Red Sox fan who has grown to associate Fenway Park and baseball with the giant flashing red gas station brand sign at Kenmore square. I ask all fans of baseball to please go to and take a second to sign and Save The Citco Sign!
