Quest to be a Boston Red Sox Beat Writer – Day 14

First Data Field, Port St. Lucie Florida – 3/8/17

Red Sox 7 – Mets 8

Today on the last day of the Red Sox mini east coast tour, Rick Porcello didn’t pitch like a Cy Young winner. He lasted 3 innings, gave up 4 runs on 5 hits. He did strike out 4 but also gave up a home run to Bruce in the 4th. On the other side of the field, Syndergaard pitched 2.1 innings and gave up 0 runs. Pretty solid performance, hitting 99 on the radar gun.

One highlight of the game as seeing Tim Tebow have 3 at bats as the DH and go 0-2. Tebow at 29 is trying to get himself to the big leagues, but as many sport switchers before him, IE Michael Jordan, their more beneficial to the team as a PR move then helping the lineup. Allen Craig on the Sox had a nice game as DH going 2-3 with a home run.

The Red Sox play again Thursday 3/9/17 at 1:05 PM EST against Team USA at Jet Blue Park in Ft. Myers Florida. Red Sox pitcher Renis Elias will take on Team USA. Pitchers yet to be determined by team USA. The following below is the roaster of team USA who plays their first game of the tournament Friday 3/10/17 in Miami.

The save the Citco Sign petition right now almost  15K and climbing. Rumor has it that the rent for the Citco sign will go up to over 2 million a year. This is tragic to any Red Sox fan who has grown to associate Fenway Park and baseball with the giant flashing red gas station brand sign at Kenmore square. I ask all fans of baseball to please go to and take a second to sign and Save The Citco Sign!
