Quest to be a Boston Red Sox Beat Writer – Day 12

Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, West Palm Beach, Florida – 3/6/17

Red Sox 5 – Astros 5

A nice tie in the early days of baseball. One of the few things you will never see in the regular season that can appear in the training days. Chris Sale made his first start today as a member of the Red Sox and went 2 innings, 4 hits 2 runs and 1 earned run. Not to bad for his first time wearing the B on his hat. Sox pitching in total for the day gave up 8 hits, 5 runs, 4 of them earned, 7 walks and 7 strike outs.

The Sox offense was consistent today in total getting 10 hits and 5 runs. There were a couple of home runs hit today as well, 1 by Travis (second of spring training) and Selsky (second of spring training). Team veteran Dustin Pedroia had the day off.

The Red Sox play again Tuesday 3/7/17 at 1:05 PM EST against the Washington Nationals at Ball Park of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach Florida. Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez will take on Nationals pitcher Joe Ross. This is the second day of the Sox east coast road trip.

The save the Citco Sign petition right now is  10K and climbing. Rumor has it that the rent for the Citco sign will go up to over 2 million a year. This is tragic to any Red Sox fan who has grown to associate Fenway Park and baseball with the giant flashing red gas station brand sign at Kenmore square. I ask all fans of baseball to please go to https://www.change.org/p/help-protect-a-boston-icon and take a second to sign and Save The Citco Sign!
