Movie Review: The Hunt for the Wilderpeople

One long commercial for the country of New Zealand. I’m sold, lets go!

A troubled youth is dropped off at a home in the wilderness of New Zealand. Some stuff happens and they end up on the run in the woods. It’s cute watching their relationship develop. The country is beautiful.

Of course Rhys Dharby is in this (because it is a New Zealand film). He’s fun as a lunatic.

I really enjoyed the way they stylized the passage of time. It was sort of a panning shot with a montage of people going in and out of the frame and I thought it was really well done.

This one had a few laughs (and maybe one or two groans) but over all I liked it.

TLDR: 3/5. I liked this movie. It was cute.
