Yeah, this isn’t going to one for the average reader of The Packie.
Susan Sarandon, Rose Byrne, JK Simmons in this movie that looks like a chick flick that is getting decent reviews.
Susan Sarandon is basically Linda Davidson. (Linda Davidson is a character performed by my good friend Becca Van Horn as a part of my sketch group Mister Bismuth. (Link to our sketchcast here)) She an annoying old lady, who meddles, if you will, in people’s lives. Maybe cuz it’s easier to deal with other people’s lives than her own.
This movie had a few real good laughs.
JK Simmons was the best part. I wanted more of him. I wanted to see more love story. I loved to see their relationship develop and I wanted more of them interacting.
Written and directed by Lorene Scafaria. Guessing this is a very personal story. The daughter is a writer etc etc. Some of this stuff that is happening I didn’t care about but it seemed like they felt it was important to the story. They could have cut some of this stuff out but since it was so close to her I’m guessing she thought it was necessary.
There were a few times when I thought they were going to wrap it up but they didn’t.
Trying to pull heart strings frigging everywhere. Worked sometimes.
3/5. I liked this movie. It was cute and I cared about a lot of the characters. If you have to sit through a nice movie that misses would like you could do worse.
