Movie Review: (Quick shots) Creed, In the Heart of the Sea, Sisters.

I caught shit for not doing well worked on in depth clever movie reviews so instead of one good one I’ll give you 3 quick ones.

Guys Star Wars came out today. You know what that means… nothing because I’ll wait for the hype to die down before I go. Here are 3 other movies that I saw that I haven’t reviewed yet.

Creed

Bought tickets to this movie thinking it was the movie based upon the formulation and rise of one of America’s most beloved rock and roll bands, Creed, instead what I got was something better!

I saw this a couple weeks ago. I enjoyed it but didn’t really know what to say about it.

You may or may not remember my compelling coverage of #RockyDay where I watched 5 Rocky’s and Rambo in a day. If not check out The Packie archives for some wonderful wonderful wonderful coverage of that.

No, I never saw Rocky Balboa aka Rocky VI so I hope I’m going to be okay seeing this one.

This movie is starring and directed by the guys who brought us Fruitvale Station so I have high hopes for this movie. It’s reviews seem be to pretty positive.

I really liked this one. This one was sweet and interesting.

Felt like we were in the ring with the boxers at times.

This movie came out on Thanksgiving and is still available in some theaters.

TLDR: 4/5. I really liked this one. Fans who’ve grown up with Rocky will no doubt enjoy this one a lot as well.

In the Heart of the Sea

When I saw the trailer for this movie I wasn’t looking forward to it at all. I was bummed because I knew I would see it in an imax 3D and not be impressed by it. I was right.

This movie is about how the book Moby Dick was written. So that means we get to meet the dude who told the story to the dude who wrote the book telling that dude about a thing that happened so he could write the book about it. Yeah? Sure. I didn’t feel like that part was necessary. We were able to cut away from the people in row boats cannibalizing people so we could keep the pg-13.

I just didn’t really care that much. It’s good we don’t use whale oil to light the streets anymore.

Cillian Murphy is in this. He is one of my man crushes. He’s good.

For those of you keeping track here are my current actor man crushes:
Cillian Murphy

Michael Shannon

Tom Hardy

Ryan Gosling

Now that Star Wars is taking over the iMaxes this one is going to quickly disappear. This movie is out now, but not for long.

TLDR: 1.5/5. Not good. Didn’t enjoy. Skip it.

Sisters

This movie started out like a “chick flick” with jokes that I did not enjoy but then turned it around. The first thing I thought was that “chick flicks” are improving. I had a few good laughs and I wasn’t insulted by what it was trying to do.

I love watching people on drugs run around and be crazy on drugs. Bobby Moynihan

I love Tina and Amy and much of the cast is fun to see.

John Cena as the drug dealer was great as well.

Fuck you Arby’s for trying to make me eat Arby’s.

Enjoyed the blooper reel at the end.

This movie came out today and is playing everywhere.

TLDR: 3/5. I liked this movie. It had some good laughs and the ladies will enjoy it as well. Redbox it.
