Anti-Gay Rights Activist, Torii Hunter, Retires From Baseball

Torii Hunter, a grown man with the first name of a late 90’s porn star, is retiring after playing 19 seasons in Major League Baseball. Hunter was a hard hitting, gold glove winning, All-Star center fielder for the Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and the Detroit Tigers before finishing up where his career started in Minneapolis. It will be interesting to see where his name lands on Hall of Fame voting ballots, as he did put up some excellent numbers during his 19 year career, though he never achieved a championship pedigree.

Outside of baseball, a little bit like Daniel Murphy, Torii Hunter is a widely known as an anti-gay rights activist. He often cites his religious upbringing as a child in Arkansas to belie is repugnant views. Mark 12:31 says it best, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is no greater commandment than these,” (**Unless thy are homosexuals, cuz ewwww, gross**). Torii’s boneheaded beliefs don’t end just there. He also thinks that black hispanic baseball players shouldn’t be credited with being a black baseball player. This guy has made over $172 million dollars during his career. Stings, doesn’t it?

So long Torii Hunter. You were a pretty good baseball player and that is probably about the extent of  it.
