Something has felt off about this round of the MLB playoffs. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it until, suddenly, it struck me. Neither the Toronto Blue Jays or the Chicago Cubs have their home dugouts along the first base line. In fact, after a little research, there are ten other teams who elect to have their home dugout along the third base line. Thirty years of watching baseball and this is the first time I have ever noticed that. It’s like finding out one of your friends isn’t circumcised. It totally doesn’t matter but it still seems kinda weird.
If you have also been ignorant to this fact, here is a nice little list breaking down what baseline teams choose to have their home dugout on.
