The Packie Bar Review – The Lower Depths – Boston MA
The Lower Depths – 476 Commonwealth Ave, Boston, MA 02215 – http://www.thelowerdepths.com/
This is the first time i came to this place. I have been looking for really good beer bars in Boston where i can sit and try a variety of beverages. The Lower Depths is a place for that. They have several beers available, no hard liquor and it’s minutes away from Fenway Park. When you get in, they give you a menu of all the beers broken up into categories, very helpful for the craft beer learners.
I came in on a Saturday night around 8 PM and it was not terribly busy, but there was a good vibe there. Some hipsters hanging out but a guy like me from Revere didn’t feel out of place. There were two bartenders on, the guy was helpful. I had asked him a few questions about different beers and he was able to point me in the right direction.
The place is a little small, since its in a brownstone basement on Com Ave and they only take cash which is a little bit of a pain but there is an ATM at the entrance.
They have about 16 beers on tap and the rest are bottles. I didn’t eat here so I didn’t review that portion but the food did smell good coming out of the kitchen. By the time I left things started to pick up. This may be my new pre Red Sox game hangout.
